Staff and Trustees at The Abingdon Bridge have everything to smile about! The local charity which supports vulnerable young people in the area has been presented with a cheque for £25,836.20 by the SMILE committee at Infineum UK Ltd. This follows a whole year of fundraising activities after staff at the Milton Hill business selected TAB as their charity of the year.
Staff at the Business and Technology Centre took part in a range of fundraising activities throughout the year including a half marathon, a sponsored walk, regular raffles and tombola's culminating in an end of year auction. All staff also knew that the company had agreed to double their fund raising through a matched funding scheme.
Sue Towlerton of the Infineum SMILE committee presented a cheque to TAB trustees Dick Richards and Laurie King. Sue said "As soon as my colleagues knew about the good work being done by TAB amongst young people in the area, they quickly started an amazing year of fund raising. We are all thrilled with the result".
TAB trustee and former Infineum employee Mr Dick Richards was delighted with the donation. "This has exceeded all expectations. As soon as the staff at Infineum found out how TAB supports young people who may be struggling with stress, anxiety and depression, they were very keen to get involved. These funds will be used immediately to support our latest initiative aimed at helping young people to become more aware of the risks associated with social media. SMART is our Social Media Anxiety Resilience Team. The donation from SMILE will have a massive impact on the programme".
