Youth Ambassador Programme

Our Youth Ambassadors are young people that the Abingdon Bridge have supported in the past. They have all come far on their own journeys and want to help other young people progress theirs.

They represent young people’s voices and opinions and help steer our organisation.

Would you like to become a Youth Ambassador?

Youth Ambassadors have three key roles, which are to:

  1. Promote emotional health and challenge stigma.

  2. Advise us as an emotional health organisation on what young people’s needs are.

  3. Motivate and inspire other young people to have more understanding of their emotional health through a wide range of settings within their local communities, including schools, clubs, and other community organisations.

Evie

Hi, my name is Evie, I'm a youth ambassador for The Abingdon Bridge. I got involved with TAB almost 2 years ago now and I’m proud to say that I've come out the other side a better person all around. They’ve helped me in multiple different ways, and I couldn’t be more thankful.

I became a Youth Ambassador to help other people that are in the same situation that I was in. We all know how difficult it can be to reach out to someone and I hope that having young people like us will help youngers do that more.

I am very happy to be a part of this role and I look forward to speaking, listening and seeing all the young people involved.💖

Evie helps at sessions and groups for younger people and loves putting on wellbeing art sessions for them. She has attended AGM’s and other meetings to feedback from a young person's perspective and contributes to the wider reflections of TAB as an organization.

Armani

Hi, my name is Armani and I’m a Youth Ambassador for The Abingdon Bridge. TAB have helped me through a lot in the last few years and it brought me to the realisation that there are people out there who genuinely care about you, your well-being, and your mental health. Since they have helped me so much, I have now decided to step up and help other young people who might not be getting the help they need. I understand how hard it is for young people to feel like their voices are being heard, and this is what I want to try bring to TAB. I want them to know that not only will we listen to you, we want to help you in every way we can, and earn your trust. I know how hard it is to tell new people how you are feeling because you don’t want to feel judged, but struggling with your mental health is nothing to be ashamed of!

Armani came to us in December 2022 wanting to give back and do something for the homeless around Christmas in her new role as a Youth Ambassador. From the beginning she took the lead and organized advertising, held drop ins for donations, and created a team to go and drop off donations to homeless on the street as well as at local shelters and organizations. Giving back at its finest.

Billy

Hi, I'm Billy and I'm a Youth Ambassador for The Abingdon Bridge. I love helping people! Nothing's better than putting a smile on someone else's face. That's what brought me to the Bridge. I've been helping out for a few years, and I always love being involved. I think the Bridge is a fantastic place for young people to chill, have a chat and a laugh in a world full of frowns.

Adam

Hi, my name is Adam and I wanted to become a Youth Ambassador for TAB because as a vulnerable young person, who has also struggled with mental health, I know how hard it can be. Especially when you feel like you are alone. But one thing that TAB and I can promise you is that you are not alone, our charity family are always here for you!
I want to tell people my story in the hope that it will inspire them to tell their own in order to promote mental health awareness, so we can fight this battle together!

I have struggled with anxiety, depression, and OCD for many years. I was always in trouble at school and was desperate to find my place in this world. With the help of TAB and a NOMAD church charity I was able to do so. Three years on I still struggle but I can cope much better thanks to all the support I have received.

Hollie

Hi, my name is Hollie, and I am a Youth Ambassador for the Abingdon Bridge. I am excited to be part of TAB as I have a passion for helping young people with any troubles that they may be struggling with. I have experience from being a service user of TAB myself and I understand how hard it can be to express things to others because you don’t want to feel judged about it all, and I want to change that because I want to make younger people feel more comfortable when expressing their feelings because it has such a positive outcome and takes so much weight off your shoulders.
