If you are interested contact Kirsty at info@theabingdonbridge.org.uk who will arrange for you to chat with one of our trustees to discover how you could help power our next chapter.

Closing date for applications is 31st October 2026.

Put your financial expertise at the heart of brighter futures for young people.

The Abingdon Bridge gives 11–25-year-olds across Abingdon and South Oxfordshire free, confidential and non-judgemental wellbeing and emotional support when it matters most. Through counselling, youth work, mentoring, group programmes, healthy-lifestyle activities and workshops, our skilled team helps young people grow in resilience, build connections and move forward with confidence. Now we are looking for an enthusiastic Finance Trustee to bring fresh insight, strengthen our future and help us reach even more young people.

What does being a trustee mean?

Trusteeship is a chance to turn your experience into meaningful local change. As a volunteer Board member, you will help shape the charity’s ambitions, safeguard its future and share responsibility for ensuring it:

  • fulfils its charitable purposes for the public benefit and follows its governing document and the law;

  • acts in the charity’s best interests, makes informed decisions and manages resources and risks responsibly;

  • uses appropriate care and skill, remains accountable and maintains effective oversight of staff and volunteers.

How you’ll make a difference

  • Turn financial information into clear, confident insight that drives strong Board decisions.

  • Support the CEO with compelling bids, project budgets and forecasts, and the financial reports required by major donors.

  • Work alongside our Bookkeeper and our Office Manager to champion accurate accounts and robust financial controls.

  • Help shape budgets and oversee resources so every pound can deliver the greatest possible benefit for young people.

  • Strengthen governance, audit arrangements and statutory reporting.

What you’ll bring

We welcome candidates with financial and business acumen, sound strategic judgement, strong communication skills and a commitment to effective charity governance. Experience as a treasurer, along with knowledge of charity financial management, would be beneficial, but not essential. Most importantly, you will share our values and be eager to contribute your ideas, constructive challenge and independent perspective as part of a supportive, ambitious and committed trustee team.

Could this be your next rewarding challenge?

This is your opportunity to share your expertise, expand your Board experience and see the tangible difference strong financial leadership makes in young people’s lives.
