Title:  Head of Community Engagement

Reports to: Head of Wellbeing & Innovation

Hours: 37.5 per week (we will also consider a part time job share. You will be required to work three evenings per week) 

Salary: £30,000 to £38,000

Contract: One year fixed term contract with the view to make the position permanent

Location: Abingdon area (driving licence required)


Job Description

Are you ready for take-off? This new role will focus on developing and enhancing community programmes that will enable young people and key stakeholders to have increased confidence to act and commit, this will result in a greater sense of community belonging.


We will create opportunities to review and rethink preventative wellbeing strategies. This will be done by ensuring we harness youth voice and maximise community participation. Ultimately this is a new role, and we want you to own it by bringing fresh thinking and concepts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enhance and deliver our Youth Ambassador programme.

  • Coordinate our outreach programmes.

  • Facilitate and manage our safe community drop-in sessions.

  • Work with community stakeholders, including the Abingdon Town Council, to create collaborative engagement opportunities to ensure young people's voices influence policy and local decisions.

  • Work with our partners to create a positive pathways programme.

  • Facilitate youth and community focus groups identifying local challenged and opportunities around key themes - this will feed into a local strategic plan.

  • Develop other community initiatives that you feel would make a difference!
