Volunteering

The Abingdon Bridge is a youth centre... but it's not just for young people!

If you like what you have seen and want to get involved, then you might want to consider volunteering.

What you do and how much is up to you. Some volunteers come in for several hours a week. Others drop by occasionally. Some with specialist skills just come when needed. Qualifications and experience aren't essential... just a concern for the needs, rights and welfare of young people.

You might be involved in:

  • Outreach
  • Short-term projects and special events
  • Meeting and chatting with young people informally
  • "front desk" reception duties
  • Admin
  • Researching specific areas, such as mental health, legal support, bullying etc
  • Maintenance... even cleaning!
  • IT support
  • Counselling (if appropriately qualified)
  • Offering emergency accommodation
  • Providing any other specialist skill or expertise

And we're always open to other suggestions.

In return, you will gain:

  • New experience and skills
  • Something to put on your CV
  • Access to training
  • The chance to get to know your community and take an active role
  • An enormous sense of well-being
If you are interested in this challenging but rewarding opportunity -

see "CONTACT US" for more details.

(please note, many volunteer placements are subject to satisfactory interview, references and police check)
