Outreach
What is outreach?
- Going out and meeting with young people on the streets where they are
- Helping them to think about and take and active part in their community
- Offering opportunities to take part in events and activities where they live
- Helping young people to access TAB services without ever having to access TAB
- Supporting young people's voices and rights within the community
- Publicity!
- Working with other agencies to support young people
- Offering training and information to those working with young people.
Lets face it, despite our best efforts, many young people are never going to access TAB or anywhere else like it. If you feel marginalised, or you don't trust "the system", it can be hard to approach somebody. Maybe you're shy, or don't want to ask for "help" Perhaps it's just too far to walk across town, maybe you've never heard of us, or it's just not your kind of thing. Which is why outreach is so important. Through spending time on the streets, in youth clubs and elsewhere, we want to meet with young people on their terms, in their territory and deal with the issues they are facing.
Or maybe you are part of an organisation that works with young people, and you feel you need some support. Perhaps you help run a youth club and want some information on drugs or local services. Perhaps you work in a school and think the young people you meet with would benefit from knowing about TAB. Perhaps you are part of a community group locally and are interested in the concerns of young people. Perhaps your group would benefit from some training on drugs, sexual health or other issues. Maybe you are worried about young people hanging out in your area. Then give us a call.
We're also on the look out for outreach projects around Abingdon.
If you think we can help you, or if you know of something we should be involved in, get in touch. See “CONTACT US” for details.
(Please note, outreach is only available in Abingdon and surrounding areas).
